The curlers were also away during the holidays competing in Naseby and finished a creditable third at the nationals. The team comprises a group of years 910 pupils, so the future looks really bright.

Finally, it was great to be able to get any sport played with all the Covid 19 disruption­s, so thanks to the RSOs and the Otago Secondary Schools Sports Associatio­n.

The end of term three and school holidays continued to be a busy one for MAC with Get2Go, basketball, netball, volleyball and the Hillary Challenge Finals. MAC had two teams compete at the Get2Go in Queenstown. Both teams did well with the MAC 2 boys team placing second and the MAC 1 mixed team placing third overall. Throughout term three, MAC had three year 910 basketball teams competing in a competitio­n with other Central Otago Schools, with the MAC girls’ team finishing second in its grade and MAC boys’ 1 team finishing third.

MAC had two teams attend the OtagoSouth­land year 910 netball tournament in Dunedin. The 10A team worked very hard to finish third place in the grade, Millie East, Emilie Nicholson, Jessie Winter and Ava Hay earning themselves a spot on the talented player list. In the last week of term three, two teams competed in the Central Otago junior volleyball competitio­n at the Wanaka Recreation Centre with the mixed A team taking out the competitio­n. During the term three school holidays six pupils from MAC and two from Columba College competed in the Hillary Challenge Final at Tongariro. The MACColumba College team was super strong, worked well together and put itself in a great position to earn seventh place out of 12.
