Trafalgar Day in Dunedin

-

To commemorate the great British naval victory achieved by Lord Nelson on October 21, 1805 — Trafalgar Day — many of the principal places of business displayed bunting and the nevertobeforgotten signal sent out to the fleet by the Admiral, as to the duty of every Britisher, was hoisted in the Triangle. In this way there was not wanting evidence that though 115 years have passed since Britain’s greatest naval commander won a magnificent victory and received his death wound,

one of the most momentous events in the history of the British Empire had not been forgotten.
