GP nurses, staff to strike

Welling­ton: About 3200 nurses and med­i­cal ad­min­is­tra­tive staff at GP clin­ics and med­i­cal cen­tres are ex­pected to strike next month.

The New Zealand Nurses Or­gan­i­sa­tion (NZNO) yes­ter­day is­sued a strike no­tice cov­er­ing more than 500 prac­tices na­tion­wide, a 24­hour strike was set for Mon­day, Novem­ber 9, and an­other two weeks later on Novem­ber 23.

This fol­lows two na­tional stop­work meet­ings, and a one­day strike last month.

The union has pre­vi­ously said nurses work­ing in pri­mary care were paid about 10% less than those in hos­pi­tals. — RNZ
