Focus on modes of transport
Waitati School pupil Ada Millar (9) considers the potential of buses as a mode of transport during the 2020 Enviroschools Student Hui at Toitu Otago Settlers Museum yesterday.
She was among about 30 year 46 pupils from different schools taking part in the event.
Enviroschools Otago regional coordinator Robyn Zink said it gave the pupils an opportunity to discuss issues with the modes of transport to and from their schools.
A survey had been conducted outside the school gates over the past week, to find out who walked, biked, scooted, or came by car or bus to school, she said.
Yesterday, pupils were asked to think about different modes of transport, the different types of energy that were used in transport and the impact of different forms of transport.
They made plans for how transport to and from school could change in the future, to make it more sustainable.
They also explored the museum looking at the different modes of transport from yesteryear.
