Dunedin Brainstorm
I WAS disappointed to see Cr Carmen Houlahan’s criticism of the recent DCCorganised Great Dunedin Brainstorm (ODT, 21.10.20).
It is important to note that myself and other Dunedin residents who attended the event did so voluntarily on a Friday evening and full Saturday.
The event was wellfacilitated and organised with a strong number of locals working passionately towards pitching their ideas.
As a globally recognised innovation specialist, I felt there were many strong, wellconsidered ideas focused on Dunedin’s Covid19 response.
Perhaps, if Cr Carmen Houlahan bothered to give up her Saturday like us, she would have more respect for the ideas.
I commend the DCC on organising a great community event, but feel allowing councillors to pan the ideas is deeply hypocritical, shortsighted and disrespectful to those that attended.
