Pair shine before rain arrives
RAIN ruined the opening day of premier grade cricket.
All three games were abandoned but there was some joy for UniversityGrange.

At Tonga Park No 2, defending champion North East Valley was restricted to 179 for nine from its 50 overs.
The Kindley brothers, Will (39) and Hunter (43), made valuable contributions and Corey Perrett topscored with 47.
Taine Bayly picked up four wickets for CarisbrookDunedin/Kaikorai and Josh Finnie did his best to smash his side to victory before the rain arrived.
He hoisted seven sixes and two fours in a whirlwind knock of 64 not out from 36 balls.
The wickets tumbled at the other end. Kyle Hastie bowed a doublewicket maiden and Otago contracted player Jarrod McKay claimed a couple of scalps as well before the game was called off.
At Memorial Park, Albion posted 212 for nine against Green Island.
Opener Josh TasmanJones topscored with 49 and there were useful cameos from Tim Ford (34), Max O’Dowd (28) and Sam Wells (28).
Blair Soper and Geordie Scott nabbed two wickets apiece.
But Green Island’s chase was rained off with the side on 42 for two.
Wells grabbed both wickets.
