A CATEGORY 2 historic place will be pulled down and replaced with something more affordable. Memories are what we lose, cultural amnesia is what we choose when we build for cheaper views from new windows. Community health is valuable, to lose our past regrettable, yet we will remove it all when we build the hospital.

I SPENT the weekend in Queenstown recently and while I was there visited the Frankton golf course. Both the driving range and the golf course were busy as usual. The car park was full. I cannot believe that the Queenstown Lakes District Council plans to turn this wellused recreational facility into a car park.
