Mir closes in on title
Motorcycling: Suzuki's Joan Mir edged out teammate Alex Rins yesterday to claim his maiden MotoGP victory at the European Grand Prix in Valencia, extending his lead at the top of the world championship standings.
After making the podium in five of the previous six races, Mir's victory has made him a heavy favourite to become world champion and end Marc Marquez's fouryear reign.
The championship continues in Valencia this weekend and another podium finish for Mir would enable him to crowned world champion. — Reuters
