Polytech after new leader

-

Invercargill: The Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) is on the lookout for a new chief executive.

Penny Simmonds, who held the position for the past 23 years, was confirmed as the new MP for Invercargill last week, leaving her role at the polytech vacant.

SIT board chairwoman Alison Broad said yesterday the polytech had begun the recruitment process.

The appointment would take effect some time in 2021, so the board had enough time to consider the best person for the job, she said.

Maree Howden has been acting chief executive since Ms Simmonds went on leave in June.
