WITH the ‘‘party of the people’’ once again in power, it can — if it wishes — rid the land of casinos and their diminutives in bars and TABs.

I READ that roosters’ early morning crowing in some areas in Dunedin is a problem (ODT,

28.10.20). A poultry fancier once told me the problem can be solved by erecting a board low over the top of their nightly perch. If the rooster cannot stand up erect, he cannot crow.

I WAS absolutely appalled to discover that Denmark is still operating a fur trade (TV1, 6.11.20). I am shocked that a liberal country with progressive social legislation can still allow such a cruel trade to continue. New Zealand with its live exports is not a lot better.

I’M sure I’m not the only person to find the making of ‘‘Covid balls’’

(ODT, 10.11.20) as a quirky Christmas decoration somewhat sick. When one thinks of the devastation, hardship and loss of life Covid19 has brought upon us, to use it as a Christmas decoration is way beyond inappropriate.
