Lake Onslow
ASSOCIATE Prof Earl Bardsley’s plan for a pumped hydro for Lake Onslow would create a vast mudflat when the tide was out (ODT, 13.11.20).
The topography is such that even if partially drained, much mud would be exposed. Presumably the trout population would be left struggling in the mud, especially if they were slow swimmers!
What Prof Bardsley may not realise is that Roxburgh residents are very fond of ‘‘their’’ Lake Onslow and its plentiful fish population and like it very much as it is.
Hopefully, the Department of Conservation would be opposed to such a proposal which is so ecologically destructive.
I, and hopefully many others, wish that the professor could concentrate on designing such cunning schemes for his own backyard.
