Ngapuhi leader dies

Hokianga: Ngapuhi leader and kaumatua to the Labour Party Rudolph Taylor has died, aged 66.

More commonly known as Rudy, he was Labour’s Maori Council chairman and became a life member of the party just weeks ago.

He spent years trying to get a settlement for the Far North iwi Ngapuhi, helping to form the hapu alliance group Te Kotahitanga o Nga Hapu Ngapuhi. — RNZ
