Angler nets wartime shell
Berlin: A fisherman trying his luck on the Sieg, a tributary of the Rhine, has hauled up a World War 2 shell measuring 7.5cm, police say.
The ordnance clearance service was called in to dispose of the shell immediately after it was found near the village of Scheuerfeld in the state of Rhineland Palatinate on Monday.
The police noted that shells dating back to the war could still explode despite their age. — DPA
