Otara shootings arrest

Auckland: Heavily armed police have arrested a man in Flat Bush in relation to a series of shootings in Otara.

Police pulled over a vehicle in the South Auckland suburb about 10.25am yesterday and found live shotgun shells in the car. They arrested an 18yearold man and charged him with unlawful possession of ammunition.

He, and and another male occupant of the vehicle arrested on unrelated matters, will appear at Manukau District Court today.

The arrest comes after at least five recent gangrelated shootings in two days in Otara, South Auckland.
