Housing shortage hardship
An illustration of what may happen to a respectable working man owing to the house famine was related to an Auckland Star representative recently. The man stated that he had been ordered to get out of the house he had occupied for two years, and bailiffs put his furniture on the street. There are four children, the eldest 14 years and the youngest 31⁄2 years of age. The man was compelled to put two of the children in a home on Monday until he can find another house to take them to. — ODT, 25.11.1920.
