To the point

ANDREW Whiley fails to mention the future loss of a vast number of parks at the Dowling St car park (Letters, 15.7.21).

Alan Shooter Waldronville

I STRONGLY suggest to Ross Davidson (Letters, 19.7.21) to read Civis’ column in the Otago Daily Times of last Saturday about the personal and societal longterm effects of Covid19.

DR Jo Pollard is right to be concerned about the kea (Letters, 12.7.21), but she forgot to mention that climate change is also a threat. This means that stoats and cats are going higher into mountains and predating the kea. 1080 poisons stoats so saves more kea than it has killed.

THANKS to Jim for a genuine and welltimed obituary to Des Styles (ODT 13.7.21). Appreciated by all who knew him.

Kelvin Robertson Naseby

I GUESS one obvious answer to the car parking dilemma experienced by poor Phyll Esplin (ODT, 1.7.21) was to load her 97yearold father on to the carrier on the back of her bike, pop her mum’s clean nighties and some grapes in the little wicker basket in front, hurtle down the hill to the hospital and lock up her bike in the foyer.

Hey presto, problem solved.

REGARDING the Barnes Dance traffic lights. It’s a fantastic system but why are they not set like all other traffic lights? When no pedestrians push the button the lights don’t activate. It makes no sense that these lights go when no pedestrians are there.
