Breastfeeding mums take part in Big Latch On

Morrinsville Playcentre is a breastfeeding friendly centre and has several of its mums who are supported on their breastfeeding journey.

The centre is pleased to be able to open their doors to other mums and family members who would like to go along to the Big Latch On which will be held on August 5, starting at 10am.

The Big Latch On is about groups of breastfeeding women coming together at registered locations around the world to all latch on their child at a set time.

All the breastfeeding women and children are latched on for one minute at the set time and are counted by the witnesses.

The numbers are then added up and the aim is to try and beat previous Big Latch On records! Aims of the Big Latch On include: Support for communities to identify and grow opportunities to provide ongoing breastfeeding support and promotion.

Raising awareness of breastfeeding support and knowledge available in communities and helping communities positively support breastfeeding in public places.

Making breastfeeding a normal part of the day-to-day life at a local community level.
