Raise a bull to help fund Te Aroha Events Centre
The Te Aroha Events Centre Trust is once again calling for local farmers to rear a bull calf to weaning for its annual fundraiser.
The Trust has a shortfall of approximately $200,000 for the cost of the building, so it is vital for fundraising to continue.
Construction of the Te Aroha Events Centre began in June and will be completed later this year.
The event centre will be located on the site that is currently used by the local fire brigade for training and competition purposes.
Over the past six years bull calf rearing has contributed over $150,000 to the project, which is by far the biggest fundraiser entered into by the Trust.
Coordinators Pat Gleeson and Paul Williams are extremely grateful for the support of the farming community over the years and they are encouraging farmers to continue to support the project.
‘‘We are hopeful that this year will be the last request for support as the project nears completion,’’ Gleeson said.
Weaned calves will be picked up at the end of October this year for sale at the Frankton sale yards in Hamilton and as in previous years will be transported to the sale free of charge by Waitoa Haulage.
Farmers that are wanting to take part in the 2016 weaner-bull collection can call either Pat Gleeson on 887 2636 or Paul Williams on 884 8557.
