- KARYN VINCENT

For the third consecutive year, Waihou Rugby Football and Sports Club’s Senior A side has made the final of the Thames Valley Rugby Union premier club final to be played at Thames Rhodes Park on Saturday July 30 at 2pm.

The 2016 side, coached by exWaihou prop, Matt Bartleet and Andre Wilson only dropped two games all season claiming the Silcock Shield and Tom Jordon Cup for winning both the first and second rounds.

The team is captained by Valley Heartland Squad members Hayden Wisnewski and Joe Murray.

Club stalwarts Glen Townsend, Klinton Wade, Jamie Gifkins and Jarrah Sheehan make up the mix of experience verse youth.

The club has had a successful season to date with taking a clean sweep of the annual Dr Dunn/Dr Lawrence clashes against Te Aroha Cobras.

For the 17th year in a row Waihou Netball retained the Frank Hubbard Trophy played for between the clubs’ top netball teams.

Waihou RF & SC will be taking supporters buses to Thames.
