FROM THE NEWS DESK
This week we look at the number of people coming into the district for employment opportunities but unable to find accommodation. Reporter Mike Bain speaks to some of the organisations at the forefront of finding people homes to live in. But it appears good accommodation is becoming hard to come by and people are being forced to sleep in their cars over night. This should ring alarm bells for those in charge of making sure the district is capable of handling population growth in the future. Reporter Katrina Tanirau has a follow-up yarn on the giant silo structure over at Tatua. The silo caused a stir a month or so ago when it imploded, leaving people to wonder what caused the damage to the landmark. Recently the Tatua Co-operative Dairy Company, which had been quiet on the damage, moved to replace the silo with a new version and it was lifted into place. Cameras are clicking once more as people stop to get a picture of the whip cream can.
