YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE

-

I would like to say a huge thank you to the community of Morrinsville for their ongoing and generous support of Daffodil Day.

Once again the community has pulled together, put their hands in their pockets and contributed to this very worthwhile cause.

My sincere thanks need to go to a large group of volunteers who assist me in making Daffodil Day in Morrinsville the success that it is.

Thank you to my faithful group who man the three sites on the Thursday of Daffodil Day as well as my volunteers on Friday that man two of our 14 sites throughout the town.

Also every year for the last 26 years of street collections we have had the assistance of Morrinsville community groups, the Pakeke Lions, Morrinsville Lions, Rotary, Kiwanis, Women’s Section RSA, Lyceum, Red Cross, Altrusa, Morrinsville Floral Art Club and this year three new groups have joined our ranks, the Tahuna Lions Club, Morrinsville Bridge Club and Garden Circle members.

This equates to over 100 community spirit minded individuals putting their hands up and saying I’m willing to volunteer my time to the Cancer Society.

The Tatua Co-operative Dairy Company and staff also had their own fundraising event that contributed significantly to our overall total and local schools in the area held their own fundraisers.

All this helps raise awareness of Daffodil Day and the Cancer Society who have no government funding, therefore are totally funded on grants and donations.

A special thank you also needs to go to Morrinsville businesses who this year pre-purchased fresh daffodils to have on display in their businesses through the week leading up to Daffodil day.

A total of 33 businesses supported this initiative. This combined effort of community and businesses has resulted in $9429.45 collected this year in Morrinsville for Daffodil Day.

Together we can make a difference. -Pauline Tesselaar Morrinsville Daffodil Day coordinator
