Movies set to screen

- FILM FESTIVAL

The second annual Arohanui Film Festival is set to take over Te Aroha again on October 28-30.

In one weekend, 33 films will screen at the Future Te Aroha Community centre, including five World Premieres and eleven New Zealand Premieres. Some of these films are presented by the filmmakers and will not be available to see in New Zealand again.

Festival Director Lyn Renwick said he is thrilled with the high standard of submissions and the interesting mix of films.

‘‘It has already become a talking point in the town.

‘‘The range of films available means that there will be something of interest to the public and a feast for film makers with the number of Q and A sessions available.’’

Renwick received a Queens Service Medal for services to youth and theatre in 2009 and since founded and manages Future Te Aroha, a community resource for education, learning programmes and cultural activities for the wider community.

The festival is designed to watch in it’s entirety, which is why a festival pass is set to an affordable price of $70 to watch all the films over three days.

There is also a documentary pass for $40 which allows entry to the five documentary sessions.

More guests to be announced soon. Tickets go on sale on October 1 through Eventbrite and www.arohanuifilmfestival.nz
