Preparations begin for Christmas parade

- STAFF REPORTERS

The Te Aroha Business Association is once again running the ‘Lucky Shopper Draw’ in conjunction with the Santa Parade on December 17 starting at 11am.

Up for grabs is a trip for two flying from Auckland to the Gold Coast return (conditions apply) generously sponsored by House of Travel, which includes travel Insurance sponsored by Tower Insurance Brokers and a travel bag sponsored by BNZ Te Aroha.

Five prizes of $250 Te Aroha Dollars sponsored by the Te Aroha Business Association and four prizes of Christmas hams sponsored by Best Meats are just some of the other prizes up for grabs to name a few.

This year the Te Aroha Business Association is also introducing a couple of other options for entering the draw.

You can write your details on the back of your receipts for purchases (during December) at Te Aroha Business Association members’ businesses and put them in the blue bins around town.

To be valid they must have the business of purchase details on the receipt.

Alternatively, with the systems used today, businesses can email a pdf with accounts to their valued customers who can print them and place them into the bins for the draw.

Lastly there’s the tried and true method of vouchers available at most stores.

The association is hoping the changes will ensure the promotion is user friendly and keeping up with technology.

December 17 begins with a decorated bike or scooter competition at 10am at the town clock. This is sponsored by First Credit Union.

At 11am the Diprose Miller Ltd Santa Parade begins leaving from the RSA heading up through town along to the Grand Hotel where it will return via the same route.

Float applications forms showing the various categories are available at the Te Aroha Mountain Railway Fundraising Shop at 135 Whitaker St.

Entry is free and all floats are to assemble outside the Te Aroha RSA by 10.15am.

After the parade and prior to the draw there will be static displays at the clock including a lolly scramble.

Adding to the festivities the association has a Facebook page ‘Te Aroha Light Trail’ for all houses that have Christmas lights on display to register so everyone in Te Aroha can enjoy them.
