Mixing and mingling

- CONTINUING EDUCATION TE AROHA

Continuing Education Te Aroha is all about promoting companionship, stimulation and entertainment for those in the 50+ age group.

The group runs a monthly meeting with lectures and guest speakers, special outings and afternoon tea.

Continuing Education Te Aroha meet on the third Wednesday of the month at St Mark’s Church lounge with their first meeting taking place today, Wednesday February 15.

The meetings run from February through to November.

Up to 35 people usually go along to listen to the guest speakers and Continuing Education secretary Lyndsay Noble said there is always room for more.

‘‘We would love to see more people come along.’’

This month their guest speaker is Te Aroha author Jenny Harrison, who will talk about her new book: Out of Poland.

Other speakers include gardening experts, a Supergold card expert from the Ministry of Social Development and university lecturer Dr Raymond Richards, who will talk about the aftermath of the US presidential election and what it means for New Zealand.

Lyndsay Noble said the group looks forward to October when they travel to an unknown location on a bus.

All meetings start at 1.30pm and there is a door charge of $3 per person with a light afternoon tea served at about 3pm.
