People often ask us why we do not report on ‘‘more positive stories’’ from the community. The fact is that we do. However as a newspaper it is our duty to faithfully and truthfully report on what’s happening in the community, regardless of whether it be deemed negative or positive. That is the role of newspapers world-wide and has been the role of the Post since its inception 40 years ago. We owe it to the founding members of this paper to continue upholding the same values and principles they set in the beginning. Sure, we could opt to only report on positive news and I’m sure that would be welcomed - for a finite time. If we chose to put on our blinkers and only report on the positive, that could be deemed as censorship, hiding the truth from our readers. And that’s not what we’re about. We’re about bringing you the full picture, warts and all, as best we can. We all strive to provide a balance in our stories, to be an independent window on the community.
