Help to recover from flood

- STAFF REPORTERS

Matamata-Piako District Council has joined with Rural Support and other services to offer assistance to rural property owners affected by the recent floods.

Councillors and staff met with affected landowners recently at a meeting called by the Rural Support Trust and attended by Waikato Regional Council, Dairy NZ, Federated Farmers and Fonterra.

They heard concerns from farmers about the stresses the flooding had placed on their families as well as the physical impact on their farms.

‘‘We are there for the support of the community, please contact us or one of the other support agencies if you have any concerns,’’ Matamata-Piako Deputy Mayor James Thomas said.

For welfare concerns contact Matamata-Piako District Council on 0800 746 467.
