Help needed

The Matamata/Piako CIB are investigat­ing a serious assault that occurred at the intersecti­on of Bank and North streets in Morrinsvil­le last week and would appreciate any informatio­n from members of the community.

At about 8pm on Wednesday June 7, a teenager received a stab wound to the leg.

He was then chased by two offenders to an address on Lincoln Street where he sought refuge. The offenders ran away.

Police confirmed a person, responding to noise outside the Lincoln St home, discovered a man with a stab wound below the knee.

Two men were seen leaving the scene and unfortunat­ely a police dog unit was unable to locate them.

‘‘We have spoken to the victim, and are following up on a report that two males were seen leaving the area,’’ a police spokespers­on said.

The offenders have been described as one male Maori and the other a male Caucasian - both in their late teens.
