St Matthew’s June concert
‘‘Home is where the heart is’’, will be the theme at St Matthew’s Anglican Church’s June concert this Sunday June 18 starting at 2pm.
The aim of the concerts, is to raise funds for the new organ at St Matthew’s, which is a Johannus Sweelinck 37.
Concerts are varied, with all performers donating their time for the fundraising.
This month the beautiful voices of the Male Voice Waikato choir will be on show.
A traditional male voice choir formed in 1995, their hope was to give men the opportunity to sing and socialise in a relaxed atmosphere.
The choir provides a variety of music to suit all tastes and provides an interesting and varied programme for the public.
One of the positive aspects of their repertoire is trying to include music from a range of styles including pop, gospel, classical, jazz, folk, musical and contemporary.
After the organ is funded, it is hoped the concerts will continue, in order to fund an ongoing scholarship for young musicians who would be interested in learning the organ. It is also hoped these concerts will become a platform for young musicians to perform publicly and increase their performing experiences - either instrumental or voice.
Tickets are $10 an adult and children under 14 are free. Afternoon tea will be served after the concert.
