Boost from Trust Waikato

- KATRINA TANIRAU

A number of Te Aroha community organisations and trusts have been given a financial helping hand from Trust Waikato.

Over the past financial year, there was a total of $67,500 given to groups in the Te Aroha area.

Some of the 13 groups who received funding were Tui Park Bowling Club, Te Aroha and District’s Riding for the Disabled, Future Te Aroha and Te Aroha Kindergarten Association.

Funding amounts varied from $500 to $19,000.

Projects included building upgrades, replacing a wooden plinth around bowling greens and programme costs.

Trust Waikato provides donations to community projects that improve the wellbeing of Waikato communities across social services, education, sport, recreation, youth, art, culture, history and the environment.

In general, funding is given to not-for-profit groups that operate mainly in the Waikato region, have a bank account, annual financial statements and are an incorporated society or registered charitable trust.

The funding organisation is particularly interested in projects that target communities with the highest need.
