Forum to work with council

- ANITA RICHMOND

The Piako Catchment Forum is excited to be working in partnership with Matamata-Piako District Council and Keep Morrinsville Beautiful to bring our community together and participate in the national Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean Up Week.

Registrations are officially open, and with over 5000 individuals already signed up it is expected that more than 50,000 will join a community clean up as part of Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean Up Week on from September 11 to 17.

Each year hundreds of organisations, businesses and communities do the right thing and organise a local community clean up as part of this initiative.

In 2016, over 40,000 volunteers took part in 625 events nationwide.

Heather Saunderson, CEO of Keep New Zealand Beautiful, said Clean Up Week offers individuals, families, businesses, groups and community organisations the opportunity to do something for their local community.

‘‘At Keep New Zealand Beautiful, our mission is to educate the next generation of Tidy Kiwis and work together toward creating a better New Zealand. Clean-Up Week is the opportunity to make a tangible difference in your local community and we are committed to expanding this event every year.’’

On Saturday September 16 put on your walking shoes and bring the whole family down to Avenue Rd entrance to the Morrinsville River Walk at 10am.

With exciting news to share the team from the Piako Catchment Forum will be taking a guided walk through the river walk, while doing our bit to make a difference in the community.

With the support of Morrinsville Rotary, PCF will be shouting all volunteers to a barbecue after everyone’s great efforts to make a difference for Morrinsville and our waterways. The PCF team is looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Let the Piako Catchment Forum know that you are keen on helping out by going to their Facebook page and clicking on their ‘Morrinsville River Walk Family Event’ and registering your interest.
