New beginnings for toy library

- KATRINA TANIRAU

It was looking like the Morrinsville Toy Library was going to have find a place to store their toys indefinitely.

But when the Toy Library committee put out a call to find a new premises, Morrinsville RSA answered.

Morrinsville Toy Library is on the move after being offered a new space at the back of the RSA.

‘‘We would like to thank all of those who helped with ideas, suggestions and offers of a new venue and our members for being so understanding over these uncertain times,’’ the library’s Toyah Irwin said.

‘‘Morrinsville RSA have offered a space that is available now, which is such great news and means that we can move quickly.’’

While moving and upgrading their computer systems, the toy library will be closed from Saturday, March 10 until April 7 with a reopening at the new premises.

‘‘Upgrading the system has been on the radar for a while and we would like to thank all those that have supported us in our fundraising efforts to make this happen,’’ Toyah said.

‘‘The new system will be an online system, which will mean you will be able to browse toys online, see what is on loan or in the library, and pay membership and money owing via PayPal if you choose.

‘‘We are very much looking forward to having this system in place. It will also mean we will be able to email the newsletter and send email reminders of toy returns.’’

The Toy Library is still looking for a librarian, which is a paid role for 4.5 hours a week.

Anyone interested can email: morrinsvilletoylibrary@ hotmail.co.nz.

‘‘The committee is excited about these updates and the new venue, and hope that you can bear with us over this period.’’

As a thank you for your patience, the committee will be gifting $10 credit to all members accounts to be used in April.

Put April 7 in your calendars now to pop down for a visit to the Morrinsville Toy Library at the RSA. The committee also meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 7pm at the Castle Bar and Grill, and they are looking for more members to join.

‘‘Please come down and meet with us or give Hayley a call to discuss what being on the committee is all about on 021 157 1260.’’
