Coppins to represent NZ at trots
Morrinsville teenager Kate Coppins is representing New Zealand at the New South Wales Mini Trotting Association Championship held at Tamworth Paceway at Easter.
The 13-year-old who has been involved in racing for three years will represent the Waikato Kidz Kartz Club.
She was a winner at the Kidz Kartz Auckland Cup and her goal is to one day win the New Zealand Cup.
Kate attends Morrinsville College and will drive Tinker Bell in the Shetland category of the Championship.
‘‘I feel very privileged to be representing New Zealand and hope I do New Zealand and the Waikato Kidz Kartz Club proud,’’ she said.
She is thankful to her many sponsors who have assisted her to be a part of such a big event and have the opportunity to travel overseas. .
She names Todd Mitchell and Peter Ferguson as her favourite drivers.

Coppins will be joined by Wilson House from the Canterbury Kidz Kartz Club
Wilson is the current winner of the Kidz Kartz New Zealand Cup.
Having been involved for five years, his long term goal is to become a driver.
‘‘I love Kidz Kartz because we are always learning new things,’’ Wilson said.
‘‘We get to go to lots of race meetings and it opens up a lot of different opportunities in harness racing.’’
Harness Racing New Zealand’s education team spokesperson Natalie Gameson felt it is important to be able to provide these experiences.
