Little school enjoys biggest agricultural day yet
Tapora School enjoyed a cracker agricultural day on Saturday with their highest attendance yet.
The weather held off and the sun came out over the school grounds on the Okahukura Peninsula.
The annual event saw around 120 walk through the gates this year, a figure that triples last year’s turnout.
Fundraising raffles, stalls, calf, sheep and dog competitions were enjoyed by the school’s 28 pupils, their families and friends.
Plants grown at Atiu Creek Regional Park were given out free to the community on the day to be planted.
"We have calculated the amount of planting done on local properties this year and we are up to 6,500 plans, so are well on our way to reaching our target of 10,000 plants in the ground by 2017," Tapora dairy farmer Earle Wright says.
