Show highlights outdoor style
An impressive range of outdoor living products and services will draw crowds at the Auckland Better Home & Living Show, running from October 28-30 at the North Shore Events Centre. The event provides visitors with the latest ideas and innovations to enhance their homes and lifestyles, with the approaching outdoor living season front of mind.
Show director Josh Shanley says ‘‘Over 190 exhibitors will showcase their products throughout five different sections and with summer on the way, there will be a focus on achieving great outdoor living. The ‘Better Gardens’ section will include landscapers, sustainable outdoor furniture, garden pots and statues, spas, barbecues, awnings and everything in between - even wall-hangings made of plants. There will be huge variety under the one roof and something for all tastes and budgets.
We’re encouraging visitors to make the most of all the expert advice on-site by gathering ideas and bringing in any plans.’’
Vegepods will be making their debut at the show, having only been available in New Zealand for two months. The raised container gardens come in different sizes and can be positioned to stand or sit, making them suitable for almost any outdoor space. They have the largest selfwatering reservoirs on the market, so require very little watering and come with mesh hoods that allow air and water in, but keep pests and adverse weather out. The product has won the show’s ‘Best New Eco Product’ award.
The world’s first smart trampoline will be on display after being launched in May. The brain child of Springfree Trampolines, it features an outdoor interactive digital game system encouraging children to head outside and be active, transforming screen time from an isolating, sedentary activity, into a healthy, engaging experience for the whole family. The on-tramp system includes high-energy activity games, educational games for exercising both body and brain, and fitness training apps for all ages. The clever new concept is a finalist in the 2016 New Zealand Innovation Awards.
Kitchens, bathrooms, organic wineries, sustainable flooring, beds, natural health products, furniture, solar solutions and travel are some of the other items of interest. Many at show-only specials can’t be found anywhere else. A series of free daily seminars by trade professionals will provide visitors with the latest information on a range of popular topics, while the Floral Art Designer of the Year award makes its first appearance at the show, along with a live butterfly display.
One lucky visitor will win a week’s holiday for two in Fiordland thanks to Real Journeys. The Discovery Expedition tour explores Fiordland aboard. To enter, show visitors need only supply their details at the show entrance. The winner will be drawn when the show closes on Sunday evening and announced on More FM Auckland the following day.
