HOLT FOR HELENSVILLE
Hoping to carve out a new career in politics, Hayley Holt is putting her hand up for the Helensville seat formerly held by John Key. The Green Party candidate confirmed her selection to stand for the seat held by the former prime minister today and said her main focus will be addressing the environmental issues. The 35-year-old said climate change is not being taken seriously and is of major concern to her and is ultimately what inspired her to stand. In the 2014 general election the Helensville electorate voted in Key with 22,720 votes (65.17 per cent); followed by the Green Party’s Kennedy Graham with 4433 (12.72 per cent).
