Rodney Times

FROM THE EDITOR

- - Rhonwyn

My family came to visit recently and I had some time off to show them the sights. Viewing the Hibiscus Coast and greater Rodney region through the eyes of a tourist is really rewarding. My family was amazed at the abundance of marine life in Gulf Harbour, and we enjoyed our ferry trip to the city. Someone from my group mentioned a weekend ferry service would be worthwhile, a sentiment shared by many of you. We visited magical Mangawhai where it’s easy to see why people fall in love with an area and never want to leave (See P4), and we walked to the lookout at Shakespear Reserve, taking in the sweeping views from the edge of the peninsula. If you’re looking for something to do with the kids these holidays, Waterfall Gully is looking great after all the rain we’ve had recently. While it’s easy to get sidetracked by all the negative issues - traffic, parking, etc, I encourage you to take some time to appreciate our beautiful surrounds - we really are very lucky.
