Fairytale lives on for talented team
These schools holidays take a journey through the woods.
A cow, a cape, a slipper of gold and hair as yellow as corn. Peaches and Pickles Productions presents ‘Into the Woods’.
All your favourite fairy tale characters come alive in this thrilling musical adventure.
Performances take place on October 6 and 7 at Centrestage Theatre, Orewa.
The show is directed by Charlotte Nightingale with musical direction by Catherine Carr. Cinderella is played by Georgia Barron, and Little Red Riding Hood is Emily-Jane Cull, with many more Rodney local actors in the cast list.
The musical intertwines the plots of several fairytales. The main characters are taken from Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel and Cinderella, as well as several others. The musical is tied together by a story involving a childless baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family (the original beginning of The Grimm Brothers’ Rapunzel), their interaction with a witch who has placed a curse on them, and their interaction with other storybook characters during their journey.
Peaches and Pickles Sophia Pedersen says the entire cast has been rehearsing for months to bring these childhood fairytales to life, in the best possible way.
The original book is written by James Lapine, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. A Disney film adaption starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick and Johnny Depp was released in 2014.
