Meadows brings the remarkable Piaf to life

-

International singer Mandy Meadows presents Piaf: The Legend , a celebration and reflection of Edith Piaf’s extraordinary view on life, love and tragedy. Featuring a live band with an authentic French sound, this show has sold out across the world.

Piaf survived the death of her 2-yearold daughter, the murder of her mentor, the fatal plane crash of her married lover, the overdose of her mother — all while becoming one of the most iconic figures in French music. Piaf: The Legend asks who was this 1.4 metre circus-born waif? How did she save the lives of hundreds of prisoners of war? What can we learn from her short life?

Before the pandemic, Mandy Meadows was performing in prestigious London venues such as The Savoy, Royal Albert Hall, the iconic Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club. Her singing career has also led to private yachts around the world. Since returning to her native New Zealand, Meadows has appeared in the sold-out Ella and Joe as part of the Tauranga Jazz Festival.

She wrote and devised Piaf: The Legend, and has been performing the show for four years to audiences across the world. Most recently it sold out at the Taranaki Arts Festival.

The live band for Piaf: The Legend has an authentic French sound and features Rosie Langabeer (accordion), Anton Wuts (clarinet), Ben Wilcock (piano), Paul

Hoskin (drums), Tim Gillon (upright bass).
