Lakefront privacy hides amid nature and private jetty

- By Jo Ferris

If hiding from the world and enjoying a quiet lifestyle – immersed in nature and water for recreation – this property is the solution.

Nestled on a large lakefront site on the Okere Falls peninsula, the tranquillity is idyllic and something to cherish. The home sits on an elevated plateau above Lake Rotoiti – views to the north and west offering sunny afternoons. Sheltered from the wind, this ‘backyard’ playground offers space and freedom. There’s ample lawn space for the kids and dogs to let loose, pitch tents, play footie or cricket.

It’s a tempting invitation to brush up the golf swing too – if popping balls into the water isn’t a problem. A picturesque stroll down the hill to the water leads to a private jetty. Launch the kayak for a spot of fishing or simply paddle around the lake. This part of Lake Rotoiti is a great place to explore the various inlets and bays.

The house commands a strong position on this ridge – hidden from the road and neighbours. Two levels heighten the views - and the outdoor flow from various rooms. The large sun deck on the lower level stretches out from the lounge. With options for shade sails in the summer peak, it’s a large entertainment stage for alfresco dining, loungers, and bean bags – toasting the views in the

afternoon sun.

A large balcony upstairs elevates the scenery for grandstand outlooks for bedrooms. There are four in total – four upstairs and the office downstairs. It’s a room that gives the option for a fifth bedroom, if working from home is the driving force to find a home with this level of space.

The house has kept pace with the times, with a fresh décor that matches today’s trend for a light backdrop. Living is comfortable and cosy, thanks to a free-standing wood burner keeping life warm during these winter months. It’s a home with personality and memories, that spell happy times and carefree gatherings with family and friends.

Be it a permanent life in seclusion, or a holiday escape where families can gather from around the country, this place has much to offer. Quite apart from having Lake Rotoiti on the doorstep, complete with a private jetty; this property isn’t far from the nature walks around the actual Okere Falls. This is the home of white water rafting as well. The local café and store are popular haunts for locals around these parts. And, with the link to SH2, it’s an easy jaunt into Rotorua, or up the road to Tauranga and the beaches at Papamoa or the Mount.

It’s an invitation to lifestyle and leisure.
