St John teams compete well

-

On Saturday, July 2 St Joseph’s School in Hawera was inundated with St John cadets from the West Coast North Island region competing in their annual competitions.

Cadets ranged in age from 6 to 18 years old and competed in Penguin, Junior, Intermediate and Senior grades. There were approximately

20 teams competing in total. There were also numerous people acting as patients and many more volunteers doing work behind the scenes.

St John Hawera Youth Division entered two teams into the competitions, one senior and one intermediate.

To ensure that we were able to put teams in, cadets from younger grades had to step up, so the intermediate team actually had three junior cadets, and one intermediate cadet, while the senior team had three seniors and one intermediate cadet. It was great experience for all of the cadets, and especially for two of our Intermediate team cadets, who have only been in St John two months.

Their placings were: 1st Intermediate Caregivers 1; Intermediate Team First Aid 3; Intermediate Communications 3; overall Intermediate Team Leader (Joshua Hobman) 3; Senior Pairs 2 & 4 First Aid 3.

St John would like to thank St Joseph’s School and Parish for the use of their buildings to run the competitions, it was greatly appreciated.
