Ladies, Tuesday August 16 the Ladies played Extra medal and Putting. Jennifer Patterson and Debbie Volzke both had 73 net. Best Putts was Jennifer with 28 and Diane Morresey had 29. Next Tuesday is Top Club Qualifying. Starters Lynete Harrison and Pam Arthur. On Saturday 20 August the Ladies played Top Cat. Ann Braithwait­e and Heather Vivian beat Sharyn Buchanan and Debbie Volzke, to be the overall winners. In the other match Pauline Downs and Jill Evans beat Caitlin Reardon and Jennifer Patterson. Next Saturday 27 August is HP, LGU and Putting.

Hawera: The Strokeplay Championsh­ips at Fairfield were completed last weekend with Shane Rowe taking out the Senior title by 3 shots from Karl Stratton. Duckie Ropiha easily won the Intermedia­te with 83 & 79 total from Steve Batchelor. Don Cameron and Geoff Ragg tied in the Juniors on 181 each with Geoff winning the play off and Neil Yeoman blitzed the Limit division on 187 from Graeme Yaxley. The finalists of the Saunders cup after the weekends rounds are Scott Craven and Darryn Sunnex. Saturday’s net winners were: N.Yeeoman 64, S.Craven 65, D.Sunnex 66, A.Ropiha 68, S.Rowe 69. Sunday’s haggle was won by the Clubs form player at the moment Duckie Ropiha with 41points from Daniel Quintus 38 and G.Ragg 37. This Saturday is a stableford competitio­n.

Hawera Cycling Club race result for Saturday September 20: Hawera’s Robbie Colville was first home after a three-way battle with New Plymouth riders John McMahon and Melanie Hansen. The experience­d Colville used the last climb to open a twosecond lead which he maintained to the finish. The battle for fastest time was hotly contested with anyone of the bunch of 14 riders in the hunt two kms out. Hawera’s Peter Schrafft and Seth Coleman broke away with Scrafft taking the honours by the smallest of margins.

Mark Frost Electrical Hawera B’s won 3-2 against FDMC second XI. Goal scorers, Toby Stratton, James Weir and Phil Le Marquand. Player of the day – James Weir.

Mulch & Mow Hawera Women’s played semi-final of Duchess Cup, 0-0 after normal time, lost 0-2 after extra time. Player of day – whole team for a great effort in the game.
