Locals help Witt students

Witt will continue to build relations with South Taranaki’s hospitalit­y community and graduates will be approachin­g these businesses looking for opportunit­ies, Witt Hawera campus manager Peter Lang has promised.

Speaking at the formal opening of Witt’s training cafe´, The Study Break, he paid tribute to businesses and schools that had provided help to bring the project to life, calling it a ‘‘wonderful resource’’.

He said businesses, listing Tairoa Lodge, Caffeinate, Marracbo, 2 Chefs, Linx Cafe´ , The Gelato Caffe, Charmaine Coffee Lounge and Arabica, had generously provided work experience for students and had also stepped in to help when there had been technical problems with training equipment.

He acknowledg­ed great local support for the cafe´ project which will create a genuine working environmen­t for students to train in.

New Witt council chairman Robin Brockie said he had had a positive discussion with South Taranaki mayor Ross Dunlop, who attended the opening, about the district council’s involvemen­t in Witt’s continued growth in Hawera.

He said the new facilities were outstandin­g and the best of its type on offer from Witt.

The Study Break, in Union St, will be open when the food and beverage students are at Witt from Wednesday to Friday,
