Mother’s Day present?

-

Leeanne Sewell has been singing since she was 11.

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, and gift ideas popping up as fast as they did last year, comes great schemes.

The Alton Coronation Hall will play venue to mothers - and anyone else - for ‘An Afternoon of Jazz’ on May 7.

Organiser Kate Murdoch said the event was a ‘‘high tea sort of situation, which is in line with Mother’s Day’’.

‘‘We’re seeing it as a nice, relaxing, casual afternoon really,’’ Murdoch said.

‘‘It’s open to everybody but it would be a great event to bring mum along for Mother’s Day.’’

The event will have entertainment, food, and tea and coffee.

‘‘We’re really lucky to have Leeanne Sewell who is new to our community and who will be singing on the day,’’ Murdoch said.

‘‘And everyone that comes along will get a free glass of bubbles on entry.’’

Sewell, who has been singing since she was 11, said she always feels nervous before her performances said it’s worth it in the end.

‘‘This is my first gig in a year, and looking forward to it,’’ she said.

The tickets for ’An Afternoon of Jazz’ are $25 and the money is all going toward the Alton Church Restoration Project.
