Egmont show only two weeks away
It’s just two short weeks until the Hawera Auto Court Egmont show, its 134th edition.
There is much activity at the showgrounds. The 150 volunteers who help to put the show together are ripping into action and the show committee has been planning the show events all year.

It was with much sadness we recently saw the passing of our hardworking caretaker Bruce Cudby. He had a big send off at the Catholic Church and they took Bruce for one last drive through the showgrounds on the way to his service. Bruce was passionate about the showgrounds and loved his job here. Not many days went by without him calling in to do a few jobs, see a user group or pop into the office to empty the bins or wash the dishes. The grounds have looked fantastic under Bruce’s care, the grass was kept to within a 16th tolerance and weeds dared not pop their heads above ground height.
We will miss Bruce and the commitment he gave to the association.
Malcolm Hurley is acting caretaker until a replacement can be found.
The month of November is a bit quieter events wise as the dayto-day running of the venue is disrupted by the show set up, but all the regulars will be here plus a couple of equestrian events.
The venue is looking magnificent and there are a few lastminute projects that will be completed before the show.
