NEW SHOW: Amanda Hewlett and Cecilie Elliot are the artists exhibiting at Lysaght Watt Gallery Union St Ha¯wera until November 27. Stories Told features painting by Amanda based on the works of J K Baxter and Cecilie’s ceramic sculptures are fun, quirky ladies depicting the ‘‘joy of life’’. There will be an artists talk at

QUIRKY FOX: The final exhibition for 2017 features the work of internatio­nally renowned artist Carne Griffiths. Carne whose work has graced the cover of publicatio­ns such as the New York Observer and been commission­ed by Microsoft, Peroni and Ibis Hotels is showcasing a collection of prints in his exhibition Encounters including a print exclusive to Quirky Fox. Carne, who spent time in New Zealand as a boy, works primarily with calligraph­y ink, graphite and liquids such as tea

brandy, vodka and whisky. The works showcased in the exhibition have been selected by Carne as most representa­tive of his style and are from small prints runs with editions as low as 12. Encounters opens Saturday, November 11 at Quirky Fox, 205a High St.

SPACE PROGRAMME: Space is for mainly first time Mums with babies under six months. Meet new friends and share your parenting journey in a safe and welcoming environmen­t.
