Opening of community centre celebrated

The new community centre created by Diane and Kelvin Logan was opened to the public on Saturday.

Barnabas House was a multi cultural experience with performanc­es by Forest View High School as well as Samoan dancers entertaini­ng the crowd.

Mr and Mrs Logan thanked the 50 strong crowd for their support and said the real thanks must go to God.

Deputy Mayor Jenny Shattock armed with scissors officially opened the centre to cheers.

‘‘Diane and Kelvin came to me three months ago and I sent them to the mayor. This place instantly ticked all the boxes for the council, it was truly meant to be,’’ Mrs Shattock said.

Barnabas House is situated at 4 Anchor Place and will be open daily between 10am and 5pm. There is no charge and all are welcome.
