All wel­come for school’s 125th

Ti­rau will step through time when its community marks the 125th ju­bilee of its pri­mary school.

Many de­tails are yet to be fi­nalised, how­ever, school staff are thrilled to de­velop plans with the wider South Waikato community.

‘‘We are want­ing to get any­one who is keen to be a part of the 125th shindig,’’ prin­ci­pal Hamish Fen­emor said.

Mr Fen­emor said the cel­e­bra­tions would be held in Oc­to­ber or Novem­ber next year.

‘‘At this par­tic­u­lar time we will see if the school will per­form on the night,’’ he said.

He said the ju­bilee would be­gin on a Fri­day night and continue through to Sun­day.

The per­for­mances of the cel­e­bra­tions will be a com­bi­na­tion of live rou­tines and pre-recorded pre­sen­ta­tions.

‘‘We want to tie in the his­tory of the school but also Ti­rau (town) it­self.’’

Those who at­tend the 125th ju­bilee can ex­pect to be browse a plethora of his­toric pho­to­graphs, premises tour, cul­tural per­for­mances and a church ser­vice.

While the ju­bilee is more than one year away hype is al­ready build­ing with many, some from Aus­tralia, in­quir­ing about de­tails.

A 125th ju­bilee meet­ing was held re­cently but the an­other meet­ing will be held on Au­gust 2 at 7.30pm in the school’s staff room.

‘‘If any­one is in­ter­ested they can come along and we can elect a com­mit­tee,’’ Mr Fen­emor said.
