All welcome for school’s 125th
Tirau will step through time when its community marks the 125th jubilee of its primary school.
Many details are yet to be finalised, however, school staff are thrilled to develop plans with the wider South Waikato community.
‘‘We are wanting to get anyone who is keen to be a part of the 125th shindig,’’ principal Hamish Fenemor said.
Mr Fenemor said the celebrations would be held in October or November next year.
‘‘At this particular time we will see if the school will perform on the night,’’ he said.
He said the jubilee would begin on a Friday night and continue through to Sunday.
The performances of the celebrations will be a combination of live routines and pre-recorded presentations.
‘‘We want to tie in the history of the school but also Tirau (town) itself.’’
Those who attend the 125th jubilee can expect to be browse a plethora of historic photographs, premises tour, cultural performances and a church service.
While the jubilee is more than one year away hype is already building with many, some from Australia, inquiring about details.
A 125th jubilee meeting was held recently but the another meeting will be held on August 2 at 7.30pm in the school’s staff room.
‘‘If anyone is interested they can come along and we can elect a committee,’’ Mr Fenemor said.
