Con­grat­u­la­tions to Shadrock

What a great game played by Elias Shadrock in the Waikato/BOP Magic v Vix­ens game last Sun­day.

Elias has cer­tainly put her hand up for a place in a Sil­ver Ferns squad, es­pe­cially in Jo­line Henry’s wing de­fence po­si­tion. Con­grat­u­la­tions to Elias for her tenac­ity and abil­ity to play her nu­mer­ous skills at an in­ter­na­tional level.

All net­ballers started their games in the Toko­roa New World Cham­pi­onships last Satur­day. In the Premier Division, Neme­sis gained a large win against Pur­ple Haze Re­united 65-33. Quar­ter-time scores were 13-10, 29-18, 48-29, 65-33. FVHS A put up a good bat­tle against United Force. United Force won the game 54-33. Quar­ter time scores were 12- 8, 22- 15, 41-25 and 54-33. The clos­est game in the Premier Division was THS A against Ea­gles. Quar­ter-time scores were 13- 6, 25- 14, 34- 29, 45-38. The two sec­ondary school teams de­serve their places in the Premier Division and they will be im­prov­ing in each game they play.

The Pri­mary teams played their last spon­sor­ship games. The two un­beaten teams in sec­tion 1 were North Ki­wis and David Henry Smurfs. Play­ers from both these teams are in the Toko­roa Net­ball Cen­tre year 6 rep­re­sen­ta­tive team. The North Ki­wis team de­feated David Henry Smurfs 13-5 and ended the pri­mary com­pe­ti­tion as the win­ning team. This team is coached by Sarah Franklin and Lisa Jones. Team mem­bers are Gra­ciana Glassie, Grace Wal­don, Jor­dan Mur­ray, Zara Por­te­ous, Madi­son Per­aw­iti, Pre­cious Le­toga, Re­nee Hurli­man, Olivia Franklin, Shauna Glassie-Ryan, Naomi-Leigh Tare- Jones. The shoot­ers were suc­cess­ful with 13 goals in the 20 min­utes of play. Many of these play­ers started learn­ing their net­ball skills for two or three years at Fun Ferns.

It has been a very suc­cess­ful ven­ture for Toko­roa Net­ball Cen­tre to have a year 6 rep­re­sen­ta­tive team.
