Good re­port for school

For­est View High School has re­ceived a glow­ing re­port from the Ed­u­ca­tion Re­view Of­fice.

The re­port cov­ers four ar­eas when eval­u­at­ing the school.

The ar­eas in­clude im­por­tant fea­tures that im­pact on stu­dent learn­ing, how well the students are learn­ing, the cur­ricu­lum and sus­tain­able per­for­mance.

The re­port states ‘‘ The pro­por­tion of students gain­ing com­pul­sory Level 1 lit­er­acy and nu­mer­acy cred­its is well above the na­tional av­er­ages.‘‘

The re­port also high­lighted the school’s in­clu­sive at­ti­tude.

‘‘The school is in­clu­sive of di­verse cul­tures and pro­motes re­spect­ful re­la­tion­ships among staff and students, based on man­aak­i­tanga, aroha and whanaun­gatanga ... School lead­ers and staff continue to sup­port cul­tural iden­tity of, and pro­mote many forms of suc­cess for, Maori and Pa­cific students.

Prin­ci­pal Ian Fer­gus­son is pleased by with the re­port.

“For­est View is thrilled to re­ceive a very pos­i­tive re­port from ERO. The re­view team com­mented on how well our school was able to en­gage and progress students in learn­ing, and how this laid the base for high lev­els of aca­demic achieve­ment.

‘‘The re­port high­lights the steps taken to de­velop a cur­ricu­lum that is rel­e­vant and in­clu­sive, and sup­ports students of all eth­nic­i­ties to be able to meet the chal­lenges of the fu­ture.’’
