Hanging their heads in shame

We wish to clarify an issue printed on the front page of SWN regarding the decision arrived at by council re; Tokoroa wastewater sludge upgrade with a blowout to the budget of some $236K.

We actually voted against the motion and were challenged by Cr Van Rooijen and Mayor Sinclair for our decision, (permitted by chair J Shattock).

We replied quite angrily that we realised we were past the point of no return with the project, but that we didn’t like the reason we were there and that we were unhappy with all the recent mishaps presently in the news as here we were ready to add another!

We unreservedly stand by our decision to object to the motion. As councillors we tend to hang our heads in shame at the recent publicity.
